What is VideoChatRU?
VideoChatRU is a browser-based chat roulette in Russian that connects you with random people by webcam. It links only to the Chatruletka app on Google Play, published by the same company that runs OmeTV, which points to a shared network of services. Because the interface is Russian and the crowd leans Russian-speaking, it’s a handy option for language learners, as long as you’re comfortable with a random format similar to 룰렛.채팅.

- Go to videochatru.com in your desktop or mobile browser.
- Allow access to your camera and microphone; no registration is needed.
- Press start to be paired with a random stranger.
- Use the built-in translation if you don’t share a language.

Is VideoChatRU safe to use?
VideoChatRU is reasonably safe for a random video chat. Its rules require adults only, ban nudity and underwear, ask you to keep your face in frame, and say moderators deal with complaints 24/7, with automatic bans for users who collect many complaints. Bans can also catch innocent users, according to app reviews. Stay careful:
- Keep your face visible to avoid automatic bans, but keep your surroundings neutral.
- Don’t share personal details such as your name, city, workplace or social accounts.
- Assume chats can be recorded by the other person.
- Report and skip anyone who’s explicit or abusive.
- 18+ only. VideoChatRU is for adults.

Yes. VideoChatRU describes itself as a free service with no ads. The linked Chatruletka mobile app offers in-app purchases, but the website’s basic random video chat costs nothing.
Is VideoChatRU the same as Chatruletka?
It is part of the same brand. VideoChatRU’s footer reads “Chat roulette, 2008-2026” and its only app link goes to the Chatruletka app on Google Play, published by Bad Kitty’s Dad, LDA, the Portuguese company also behind OmeTV. Whether the sites share one user pool is not confirmed.
Do I need to register on VideoChatRU?
The website doesn’t ask you to register: you allow your camera and microphone and start chatting. The Chatruletka app may ask you to sign in, and app reviewers mention Facebook login.
Is VideoChatRU safe?
VideoChatRU is reasonably safe for random chat. Its rules say moderators handle complaints 24/7, users with many complaints are banned automatically, nudity and underwear are banned, and you must keep your face in frame. Still, keep personal details private and skip anyone who breaks the rules.

The bottom line
VideoChatRU is a solid, free, ad-free chat roulette from the long-running Chatruletka family, with translation and clear moderation rules. Its Russian-only interface, lack of filters and heavy-handed bans hold it back, but for Russian-speaking chat with strangers it does the job well. Our rating: 3/5.
