TL;DR — Uhmegle Review
Uhmegle is a free, no-signup random text and видео чат site that copies the classic Omegle format. It lets you add interest tags so you’re more likely to match with people who share them, works in any browser and says it uses automated and human moderation. The trade-offs are unverified users, no app and confusion from copycat sites using the same name. Rating: 3.5/5.
- Best for: quick, anonymous text or video chats that feel like old Omegle
- Расходы: free, no account required
- Standout feature: interest tags that steer who you’re matched with
- Skip it if: you want verified users, strong filters or a mobile app
When Omegle shut down in November 2023, a wave of look-alike sites appeared to fill the gap, and Uhmegle is one of the better-known ones. We explain what happened in our guide to why Omegle closed. This review covers how Uhmegle works, what it does well, how safe it is and how it compares with the other случайный чат sites people use instead.

Что такое Ухмегле?
Uhmegle is a free website that pairs you with a random stranger for a one-on-one text or video chat. It deliberately mirrors Omegle: one screen, a choice between text and video, an optional box for interests, and a button to skip to the next person. It has no profiles, no friend lists and no sign-up, so you’re anonymous by default.
One thing to know before you start: the Uhmegle name is used by several unrelated sites on different domains. This review covers uhmegle.com. Copies may not have the same rules or moderation, so check the address bar before you chat.
How does Uhmegle work?
- Go to uhmegle.com in any browser; there’s nothing to download.
- Choose text chat or video chat.
- Optionally add interest tags so the site can match you with people who share them.
- Allow camera and microphone access if you chose video.
- Chat, then skip to a new stranger whenever you want.
Uhmegle’s main features
| Особенность | What it does | Почему это важно |
|---|---|---|
| Text or video chat | Pick the mode before you start | Lets you stay off camera if you prefer |
| Interest tags | Prioritises matches with shared interests | Fewer dead-end conversations |
| No sign-up | Start instantly with no account | Fast and anonymous |
| Skip button | Move to a new stranger any time | You stay in control |
| Moderation and reporting | Site says it uses automated and human review | Helps remove rule-breakers, though not perfectly |
| Light and dark mode | Switch the site’s colour theme | More comfortable for late-night chatting |
Pros and cons
| Плюсы | Минусы |
|---|---|
| Free with no account needed | Users aren’t verified |
| Choice of text or video | No gender or country filters |
| Interest tags improve match quality | Browser only, no app |
| Simple, familiar Omegle-style layout | Copycat sites share the Uhmegle name |
| Works on desktop and mobile browsers | Moderation claims aren’t independently audited |
Безопасно ли использовать Uhmegle?
Uhmegle is reasonably safe for adults who follow basic precautions, but it is not a verified or closely policed community. The site says it watches for rule-breaking with automated systems and human moderators, yet nobody checks who you’re paired with, and random video chat always carries a risk of explicit content.
- Keep personal details private. Don’t share your full name, address, school, workplace or social media.
- Mind your camera. Assume anything on screen can be recorded, and keep your background neutral.
- Start in text mode if you want to size up a chat before showing your face.
- Skip and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
- Use the real site. Check you’re on uhmegle.com rather than a copy.
- 18+ only. Uhmegle is not for minors.
Uhmegle vs other Omegle alternatives
Uhmegle is a solid, simple option, but it isn’t the most feature-rich. If moderation matters most, Emerald Chat adds a karma system and interest matching; if you chat mostly on your phone, 1ТП25Т has polished apps; and the original Chatroulette remains the no-frills classic. Who is Uhmegle best for?
Uhmegle suits adults who miss Omegle’s simplicity and want a quick, anonymous chat with no account and no fuss. The interest tags make it a little better than pure random matching. It’s a weaker choice if you want filters, verified users or a dedicated app. If you’d prefer free one-on-one video with no sign-up in 19 languages, you can also try our бесплатный чат с камерой (18+).
Frequently asked questions
Is Uhmegle free?
Yes. Uhmegle is free to use for both text and video chat, and it doesn’t ask you to create an account or pay to start. We found no premium tier or paywall on uhmegle.com.
Is Uhmegle safe?
Uhmegle is moderately safe. It says it uses automated systems and human moderators and lets you skip and report users, but those claims aren’t independently audited and users are not verified. Never share personal details, keep your background neutral and leave any chat that feels wrong.
Is Uhmegle the same as Omegle?
No. Omegle shut down permanently in November 2023. Uhmegle is a separate site that copies the same random text and video chat format, with interest tags to steer your matches.
Do I need an account to use Uhmegle?
No. You open uhmegle.com, choose text or video, optionally add interests and start chatting. The site says it doesn’t ask for personal information.
Does Uhmegle have an app?
No. Uhmegle works in the browser on desktop and mobile, and the site says no app download is needed. Be wary of apps or sites using the Uhmegle name, because several unrelated copies exist.
Is Uhmegle for adults only?
Yes. Uhmegle is intended for users aged 18 and over. Because users aren’t verified and matching is random, you can still run into explicit content, so it isn’t suitable for minors.
The bottom line
Uhmegle does what most people want from an Omegle replacement: free, instant text or video chat with strangers, plus interest tags that make matches a bit more relevant. Its weaknesses are the usual ones for this format, with unverified users and moderation you have to take on trust, plus the added confusion of copycat sites. It’s a decent free option to try, but safety-focused users may prefer a more heavily moderated site.
