|---|---|
| Free with no time limit | Very basic: no interests, groups or games |
| No registration or personal details | No official iOS app |

Is Chat Alternative safe to use?
Chat Alternative is moderately safe: its terms describe 24/7 human moderators supported by automated tools, it reviews reports and still images from video streams, and it asks users to keep their face visible. Even so, Google Play reviews mention minors and explicit behaviour, so follow the usual rules:
- Keep personal details private: no full name, address, school, workplace or social handles.
- Assume you could be recorded and keep your background neutral.
- Report and skip anyone who’s explicit, abusive or appears underage.
- Don’t move to other apps with someone you’ve just met.
- 18+ only. Chat Alternative is for adults; if you’re under 18, don’t use it.

You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher. The Android app is rated Mature 17+ on Google Play, but the site’s own terms set the minimum at 18.
The bottom line
Chat Alternative is a dependable, no-frills random video chat: free, instant, account-free and moderated around the clock.
