Chatspin at a glance

What is Chatspin?

Chatspin is a random video chat service that connects you with one stranger at a time for a face-to-face conversation, with text chat alongside the video. It runs in your browser and through iOS and Android apps, and its signature extra is a set of AI face masks and filters that let you join a chat without showing your real face. The free tier covers random matching, masks, likes and chats with people from your own country and the US; the paid Chatspin Plus tier adds filters and convenience features.

Chatspin’s key features

How much does Chatspin cost?

Chatspin is free to use for random video and text chat, but its most useful filters are paid. Chatspin Plus costs $6.99 a week, $19.99 a month or $89.94 for six months (about $14.99 a month), according to DatingScout, and unlocks gender and location filters, reconnecting with past chats, a VIP badge, an ad-free experience and private cam chat. Chatspin also sells tokens at about a cent each in packs from $5.99. Plans renew automatically, there is no money-back guarantee and you need to cancel at least a day before the term ends, so set a reminder if you only want to try it.

Pros and cons

Is Chatspin safe?

Chatspin is reasonably safe for adults who stay alert. Admins moderate chats and you can report users with the x button or flag icon, and the face masks help protect your identity. But scammers do show up, often trying to move you to messaging apps such as Kik, Plus private cam chats are not moderated by admins, and some members report billing problems. Treat it like any random chat site.

• Stay anonymous. Use a nickname unrelated to your social media and never share your full name, address, phone number or workplace.
• Assume you can be recorded. Keep your background neutral and don’t show anything on camera you wouldn’t want shared.
• Ignore links and money requests. Strangers pushing outside apps, “verification” pages or payments are almost always scammers.
• Manage your subscription. If you try Plus, cancel at least a day before renewal to avoid another charge.
• 18+ only. We only recommend these platforms for adults, and random chats can include mature content.

Chatspin vs competitors

Chatspin’s pricing and paywalled filters look a lot like Chatrandom’s, while Flingster, which also offers face masks, is a similar pick for adults. If a free gender filter matters most, ChatHub and its free filters in StrangerCam beat Chatspin without charging anything.

Who is Chatspin best for?

Chatspin suits adults who want quick random video chat on their phone and like the option of hiding behind a mask. It is a weaker choice if you want free gender or country filters, a refund policy or a crowd with fewer scammers. For more options, compare it with the best Omegle alternatives, or try our free cam chat with no sign-up (18+).
