Funyo Review 2026: Free Random Video Chat Without Sign-Up, Tested

Funyo is one of the older Chatroulette-style sites still around: open funyo.tv, allow your camera and you’re face to face with a stranger in seconds. This 2026 review covers how Funyo works, what’s actually free, how safe it is and when another site makes more sense, including the picks in our guide to the best Funyo alternatives.

Funyo at a glance

Wat is Funyo?

Funyo is a free website that randomly pairs adults for one-on-one webcam chats with strangers around the world. There are no profiles, followers or matching algorithms: you get a random partner, talk for as long as you like and hit Next when you’re done. It sits in the same roulette-style category as our Chatspin review and the long-running Chatwillekeurig, but with a simpler, no-account front end.

Hoe werkt Funyo?

1. Go to funyo.tv in a modern browser on your computer or phone.
2. Choose Random Chat (or Gay Chat if you only want to meet men).
3. Allow camera and microphone access when your browser asks.
4. Tick the option to meet only strangers with a webcam if you want to skip blank screens.
5. Talk on video and use the text box alongside it; press Next to move to a new partner.
6. Close the tab when you’re finished. There’s no account to log out of.

Funyo’s main features

Is Funyo free?

Yes, Funyo’s random video chat is free, and the site calls itself “100% free to use” with unlimited chat time. The catch is filtering: according to independent reviews, choosing gender or location filters sends you to the partner site Flingster, which needs an account and has its own paid options. The Cam Girls area is also a separate cam-model section rather than part of the free roulette.

Pros and cons

Is Funyo veilig in gebruik?

Funyo is reasonably safe if you use it like any open random video chat: it’s anonymous and needs no account, but moderation is light and you can’t control who appears on screen. Independent reviews report that Funyo doesn’t store video streams, yet the person you’re talking to can still record you.

• Keep your identity private. Never share your full name, address, phone number, school or workplace, and watch what’s visible behind you.
• Assume you’re being recorded. Don’t do anything on camera you wouldn’t want saved and shared.
• Ignore links and money requests. Strangers pushing “verification” sites, apps or payments are usually scammers.
• Skip fast. If a match is explicit or pushy, press Next straight away.
• 18+ only. Funyo is for adults, and strangers on camera can show mature content.

How Funyo compares

If you want a similar roulette with a cleaner feel, how CamSurf handles moderation is worth a look, while our OmeTV breakdown suits anyone who wants proper mobile apps. For a wider shortlist, our guide to video calls with strangers compares the most active cam chat sites side by side.

Who is Funyo best for?

Funyo is best for adults who want instant, no-strings video chat without creating an account, and for gay and bi men who prefer a dedicated men-only roulette. It’s a weaker fit if you want free gender filters, an app or tight moderation; Shagle’s random video chat and the options in our Chatroulette alternatives roundup cover those needs better. If you just want to start talking, our free video chat with strangers is free, needs no sign-up and is for 18+ only.

Frequently asked questions

Is Funyo free?

Yes. Funyo describes itself as 100% free, and random video chat, text chat and the Next button cost nothing. Extra filters are handled by a partner site that needs an account, so only use them if you are happy to sign up there.

Do I need to sign up to use Funyo?

No. Funyo says no sign-up is required: you open funyo.tv, allow camera and microphone access, and start chatting with a random stranger straight away.

Is Funyo safe?

Funyo is reasonably safe if you treat it like any open random video chat: it is anonymous and needs no account, but moderation is light and the other person could record the screen. Keep personal details private, skip anyone who makes you uncomfortable and never send money or follow links from strangers.

Does Funyo have an app?

No official Funyo app is listed on the App Store or Google Play. Funyo runs in the browser instead, so you can use it on a phone, tablet or computer without downloading anything.

Can I filter by gender or country on Funyo?

Partly. Funyo’s homepage offers matching with strangers in specific countries and a Gay Chat section for men, but according to independent reviews the gender and location filters open the partner site Flingster, which requires an account.

How old do you have to be to use Funyo?

You must be 18 or older. Funyo is an adult random video chat site, and strangers on camera can show mature content.

The bottom line

Funyo still does the basics well in 2026: free, anonymous random video chat in a couple of clicks, with webcam-only matching and a dedicated Gay Chat section. It loses points for light moderation, no app and filters that hand you off to a partner site that wants an account. For quick, casual cam chat it’s a decent free option; if it doesn’t click, the sites in our comparison above are the easiest next step. Our rating: 3/5.
